SMS's Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Targets Validated by the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative)
SMS Co., Ltd. hereby announces its group's greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), confirming that it is in line with the goal of limiting global temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The SBTi defines and promotes best practices in setting science-based GHG emission reduction targets and independently assesses and validates corporate targets.
The following GHG emission reduction targets set by the SMS Group have now been recognized as science-based and validated by the SBTi:
■ Validated GHG emission reduction targets*
・Scope 1 and 2: Reduce GHG emissions by 42.0% by FY2030 from a FY2023 base year.
・Scope 3: Reduce GHG emissions from Category 1 (purchased goods and services) by 25.0% by FY2030 from a FY2023 base year.
