Message from the CEO

SMS's Mission is “to improve people's quality of life by providing information infrastructure for an aging society.”

In Japan, we are facing an unprecedented era of low birth rate, aging, and population decline. The nature of society, including economic trends, national policies, and sense of values, is undergoing a major transformation due to demographic changes, creating new issues that have never been seen before. For example, there are concerns that it will become difficult to provide high-quality medical care and elderly care services. While demand for such services is increasing as the population ages, supply is not increasing at a sufficient rate due to a shortage of workers to support these services. The burden on the working generation, who support the elderly, will become more serious due to increasing social security expenses to cover pensions, medical care, and elderly care, as well as a declining working-age population. It is also expected that it will become difficult to solve the various problems faced by the elderly and their families due to a lack of information related to living in an aging society in terms of both quality and quantity, such as elderly care and end-of-life planning information, while demand for such services is increasing.

We would like to solve these social issues through the realization of our Mission. By regarding medical care, elderly care, healthcare, and senior life as the business domains required in an aging society, we are working to solve social issues and improve people's quality of life by building information infrastructure as a platform to connect those to whom we provide value: end users, professionals, and operators.

We have been building information infrastructure for an aging society by developing new businesses and expanding business domains ever since our establishment in 2003. In the medical care and elderly care domains, we contribute to sustainable supplies of high-quality medical care and elderly care through the career services for medical care and elderly care professionals, which we created as a pioneer in the industry with the aim of solving the shortage and uneven distribution of workers, and "Kaipoke," a management support platform for elderly care operators that supports the improvement of their management. In the healthcare domain, we provide a health and productivity management platform for companies and health insurance associations and aim to contribute to increasing the number of healthy people in the work force by helping those in the working generation to work healthily with high productivity for a long period of time. In the senior life domain, we have developed a problem-solving platform that helps solve worries and anxieties related to living in an aging society. By organizing and providing a variety of information in an easy-to-understand manner, we support the resolution of problems in an aging society.

The aging of the society is a global issue, not only in Japan, and it is inevitable that countries around the world will face the various issues that arise in aging societies for a long time to come. We have actively expanded our business overseas since the acquisition of MIMS in 2015 and currently have offices in 18 countries and regions mainly in APAC. We provide a Medical Platform Business, which supports the marketing activities of medical-related companies by building a medical platform optimized for APAC that connects healthcare professionals and medical-related companies, and a Global Career Business, which promotes cross-border and domestic matching between healthcare institutions and healthcare professionals. Through these businesses, we are working to improve the availability and safety of medical care in APAC and solve the global shortage and uneven distribution of healthcare professionals.

Going forward, we will continue to make use of our problem-solving capabilities cultivated through our business operations in Japan, a front runner of challenges in an aging society, to solve the social issues caused by the aging of society on a global scale. We will continue to solve social issues and contribute to a more affluent society by building information infrastructure for an aging society. Patients, the elderly, and their families can continually enjoy high-quality medical care and elderly care services and live with peace of mind. People in the working generation can work healthily and vibrantly and have an affluent lifestyle. All people living in an aging society can solve worries and anxieties related to their lives and enjoy safe and fulfilling daily lives. In order to realize such a future, we will continue to take on the challenge of solving social issues in an aging society.
