In the Career Business, we aim to solve the social issue that we face in Japan's aging society: "difficulty in sustaining high-quality medical care and elderly care services," by contributing to "solving labor shortages and uneven distribution of medical care and elderly care professionals."

* We believe that there are three critical social issues that we need to solve in Japan's aging society, and we have defined four strategic business areas to address these issues.

- Social issue that we address in the Career Business

Labor shortages and uneven distribution of medical care and elderly care professionals

While the demand for medical care and elderly care services is increasing due to the population aging, the shortage and uneven distribution of professionals supporting these services have become more serious due to a decrease in the working-age population.

In the medical care field, it is expected that the medical functions required will shift from acute care to chronic and home care as demand expands. As the demand for medical care changes, the supply and demand gap for healthcare professionals is widening. For example, in the case of nurses, it is expected that there will be a shortage of between 60,000 to 270,000 nurses in Japan by 2025. In addition, medical care professionals such as nurses are mainly employed in hospitals and clinics, and "uneven distribution among medical care functions" will become more and more serious in the future, making it difficult for operators such as home-visit nursing and elderly care facilities to recruit medical care staff. Furthermore, "uneven distribution among regions," in which the balance between supply and demand for medical care professionals is uneven depending on the area, is also becoming a major issue. Thus, the medical care field, in addition to an overall shortage of professionals, is facing an insufficient supply of professionals for the functions and regions that require them.

On the other hand, in the elderly care field, as the number of elderly people increases, the number of people requiring elderly care in their daily lives is expected to increase, and it is certain that the overwhelming shortage of professionals will continue long term. According to national estimates, the shortage of care workers is expected to increase from 220,000 in 2025 to 650,000 in 2040.

We would like to solve the shortage and uneven distribution of medical care and elderly care professionals by realizing the following mission.

- Mission of the Career Business

We aim to contribute to sustaining high-quality medical care and elderly care services by solving labor shortages and uneven workforce distribution.

- Strategy for realizing the mission (Medical Care Career)

Close support for medical care professionals and encouragement to work for the "medical care operators needed by society"

In order to solve the shortage and uneven distribution of medical care professionals, it is important to encourage them to work for medical care operators that have medical functions needed by society or are located in regions that face challenges in securing human resources, by closely supporting each individual professional and providing information and services that are useful in career development.

For example, we provide nurses with various types of support in "taking their careers one step forward" throughout their professional lives. For students aspiring to become nurses, in addition to providing information on future career paths, we propose optimal first career opportunities through joint job fairs. For nurses who are currently working, we provide information on skills and career development through our community website and create job opportunities to work in medical functions and regions in demand by society through our recruiting agent service. For nurses who are away from work due to childbirth or childcare, we also focus on proposing new ways of working that allow them to work remotely and work shorter hours, making it easier for them to return to work.

In order to provide professionals with better job opportunities, it is essential to understand in detail the hiring issues, characteristics, and attractiveness of the operators to which we introduce these professionals. For this reason, we continue to deepen our relationships with a wide range of operators, from large hospitals to local hospitals, home-visit nursing providers, and elderly care facilities, while providing services that help solve their hiring issues and improve their working environment. By deeply understanding operators and appropriately communicating to professionals the appeal of the work styles and careers that they can realize at those operators, we can offer professionals job opportunities at better operators needed by society.

In this way, we aim to solve the shortage and uneven distribution of medical care professionals by promoting optimal matching to the medical functions and local operators in demand by society, while supporting professionals to pursue their ideal careers.

- Strategy for realizing the mission (Elderly Care Career)

Promotion of entry into the elderly care industry and encouragement of retention by supporting career development

In order to solve the overwhelming shortage of elderly care professionals, it is important to increase the number of new workers entering the elderly care industry, while at the same time encouraging professionals to stay in the industry and reducing the number of people leaving the industry.

There are many inexperienced people working in the elderly care industry who have changed their careers from other industries, as well as uncertified people without professional certifications. Many people leave their jobs within a short period of time due to a lack of knowledge and expertise in elderly care and difficulty in adapting to the working environment. This is a major factor preventing the elderly care industry from solving its labor shortage.

Accordingly, we provide support for inexperienced people at our school for workers in the elderly care field to obtain beginner training certification, the entry-level certification for care workers. After obtaining certification, we encourage people from outside the industry to start their careers in the elderly care field by supporting them in getting jobs at operators that offer good working and training environments even for those with no experience. In addition, following employment, we provide a retention support service to help workers overcome their worries and concerns at the workplace, thereby preventing them from retiring from the industry early.

In order for elderly care professionals to work in the elderly care industry for a long period of time, it is also important to support them so that they can build steady careers by improving their professional skills and obtaining higher qualifications. For this reason, our school offers a wide range of services that help care workers develop their careers, including courses for higher-level certifications/qualifications such as practical training, and training to improve their skills as managers. In addition, we promote optimal matching between job seekers and operators through employment support services such as our recruiting agent services and recruiting ads services so that elderly care professionals can work with a sense of job satisfaction by making use of their skills and experience.

In order to enable professionals to work vibrantly for a long period of time, it is also essential for elderly care operators to solve problems related to the recruitment and education of staff and to realize better working environments. Therefore, we support operators in creating better working environments by providing retention support services to prevent early employee turnover and by training management personnel through our school business, in addition to providing support in solving recruitment issues, such as advice on hiring conditions.

Thus, we aim to solve the overwhelming shortage of elderly care professionals by encouraging workers without any experience to enter and remain in the elderly care industry, supporting the career development of elderly care professionals, and at the same time, helping elderly care operators build better working environments and promoting matching with attractive operators so that professionals can work productively and vibrantly for a long period of time.
